Matt DeHart – official Christmas letter from prison

Hio, This is actually my first official Christmas letter.

I do hope that writing this is somewhat cathartic because prison is not the most enjoyable place to be spending the season.

On a positive note, prison is a better place to spend the season than country jail which is where my 2016 began. I really do miss the traditional Christmas through. We had a fireplace in Hawaii when i was 3 or 4 and the memory of a hearth and a live tree during Christmas has stuck with me. In reminiscing, i am also reminded of the occasions in which my family and friends attended the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall.

Now il don’t anticipate any plays or musicals here nor live trees and certainly not cozy fires. i do, however have a wonderful family and some of the best friends and supporters one could hope for. I consider myself extraordinarily blessed in this regards.

I have heard and read so much over the past year concerning our serious societal issues.

This frustrates me as this divisiveness is encouraged by certain agitators dissembling as journalists and politicians. We as Anon demonstrated how little appearance matters and how much disparate peoples have in common. I hope we continue to appreciate this especially among those share my Christian faith. Jesus taught us first and foremost how to love while reserving his anger for the hypocrites. So should we also.

I think it’s important as well to realize that many decent individuals find themselves under political systems upon which they have little or not influence. In a counterintuitive way, this liberates their time for actual service to their neighbors.

This is where many of us can make the largest impact. I hope to hear back from you so that we may encourage each other this coming year. Stay courageous. I wish you a Merry Christmas and may the new year bring you joy.
